Here are some flower photos we can work with next week. Keep in mind, you do not have to use the whole photo, you can crop it. Also, stare and squint at both the colored ones and the black and white. Try to figure out if the darks are receding or coming forward and the same for the lights. Try to figure out where the medium range colors are (like the middle of the value study boxes).
Flowers are so beautiful and so complicated when you try to draw them. Their beauty is distracting - it makes you fear you have not done justice to the flower (at least, it does me). But just think in terms of simplifying the shapes and the values.
If you want to, feel free to single out one flower and then print it larger, like a Georgia O'Keefe.
